Economy

Development
We continue building and push further.

Housing clusters for seniors who want to downsize.

We will speed up infrastructure development so lots are buildable on time.

Spread fees over the construction period to make home building more accessible.
Education
Akureyri should be the best place to raise children.

Abolish the waiting period! People should not have to watch the calendar to have children. Admit to preschool twice a year.

We need to find ways to increase flexibility in preschool services in cooperation with staff regarding care hours and summer holidays.

We will improve specialised support for students and teachers within schools.

We will strengthen music education and increase collaboration between music schools and regular schools.

We will advocate for expanded course offerings and push for the University of Iceland to offer distance learning.
Transport
Better transport delivers multiplied returns in economic growth.

Akureyri Airport is not just an alternate airport. It should be a second gateway to the country.

With increased frequency and continuity of flights, we strengthen tourism, business, and quality of life.

We will improve walking and cycling paths to promote public health and reduce carbon footprint.

We will advocate for shortening the route between Akureyri and Reykjavík.
Senior citizens
Health and social life of the elderly at the forefront.

Build a community hall that meets the needs of senior citizens.

A quality-of-life hub with waste heat from the data centres.

Fight social isolation, e.g. with the Men in Sheds project.
Culture, sports & community life
The goal is clear: Akureyri as the cultural capital of the North.

Complete the KA area and start building a sports hall at the Þór area.

Support development of the Akureyri Car Club area.

Start building a new 9-hole golf course at Jaðar and prepare a new course at Skjaldarvík.

Strengthen Akureyri as Iceland's Winter Sports Centre and improve facilities at Hlíðarfjall with a new chairlift. And expand the parking!

Support regular summer concerts to enrich cultural life and create a platform for musicians.

Revitalise Rósenborg and breathe life into the area.

Begin design work on a 50-metre indoor competition swimming pool.

Add a hot tub to the Nökkvi facility.

Build new storage facilities for the Akureyri Museum.
Tax reduction
Property taxes have risen excessively. We will change this.

Available fiscal space will be used to lower property taxes for residents and businesses.

We will streamline administration to fund ambitious services.

We will restrain price increases.

We will review municipal properties and evaluate their roles to maximise utilisation.
Central government
We work systematically with the government.

Expanding and strengthening Akureyri Hospital is key for settlement in the Northeast.

A new Coast Guard helicopter unit will be based in Akureyri.

VMA (vocational school) will be expanded and nursing home construction accelerated.

Push for transport improvements to Skógarböð.
